A Statement in Support of Our Community on November 6, 2024
TBA staff are feeling a lot of things right now: grief, anger, fear, and uncertainty among them.
There is no Bay Area theatre without the women, immigrants, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, Jewish, Muslim, and disabled culture makers whose shoulders we stand on and who enrich our community today. Theatre has long been a haven for those of us at the margins. We don’t know what the future holds, and we cannot ignore the hate-filled rhetoric and threats made against these groups during this election cycle.
TBA is unwavering in our belief that art is essential in building strong social ties and a vibrant democracy. We are unwavering in our understanding that we are stronger together than we are divided. We are unwavering in our vision for a Bay Area theatre where we all have the safety and resources to do our work.
In the coming days, the TBA team will be working on ways we can support and hold space for our community. Let us be there for one another, however we can, during this time.
